Jared Folkins has found vulnerabilities in some of the products that many of you or your users use every work day. He also has worked with Local and Federal law enforcement to remediate breaches or investigate threats. In this talk, Jared will begin by sharing several intriguing stories to challenge the audience to question their own daily actions involving information security.

From there Jared will outline practical tips and advice for the audience to take home to their community so as to be a better steward, advocate, and security advisor in regards to protecting their student’s and staff’s digital information.

  • How to find vulnerabilities in web applications
  • How to responsibly disclose the vulnerabilities
  • How to vet software products
  • How He has designed and architected hardened systems for use on a network DMZ
...And finally, the philosophical security challenges that everyone in K-12 faces
